What is a doula?
The ancient Greeks used the word doula to describe "a woman who serves" during the birthing process. The laboring mother was once surrounded by other women who were ready to support and serve. Today, the purpose of a birth doula is to serve a mother and her partner during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and for a short time after the birth of their child. I am excited to provide doula services in a time where people are rediscovering the wisdom of ancient ways.
"Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers- strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength."
